Melamine Makes a Come Back

Invented in the 1930′s and used by the US NAVY during WWII due to it’s unbreakable quality.  Commonly called Melmac – during the 50′s several companies were making it for use in the home and it  became a mainstay in many kitchens across America.  While it was durable, scratches were common and it began to fall out of favor.  By the 70′s most households were going back to ceramic, pottery and glass made dishes.
